Dataset(s): Input-output supply and use tables

Estimates of industry inputs and outputs, product supply and demand, and gross value added (GVA) for the UK. Supply and use tables for 1997 to 2021 are consistent with the UK National Accounts in Blue Book 2023.

Statistics are most often revised for 1 of 2 reasons:

  1. For certain statistics initial estimates are released with the expectation that these may be revised and updated as further data becomes available.
  2. Revisions may also be made when methods or systems are changed.

These types of planned revisions should not be confused with errors in released statistics, which are genuine mistakes. Such mistakes occur rarely and, when they do happen, corrections are made in a timely manner, announced and clearly explained to users in line with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics (Principle 2, Practice 7).

An error occurred in the Intermediate Consumption Tables. This occurred as we now balance output at a lower level then we did in Blue Book 2018 and this change was not correctly reflected in one of our systems.

A small error occurred in intermediate use tables due to a reordering of SIC codes in one of our systems. The data in the table matched the industry description, but for several industries did not match the SIC code. We have corrected this error. You can see all previous versions of this data on the previous versions page. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Correction to Table 4: Gross fixed capital formation by Industry Following further quality assurance of the dataset an error has been found in the data for the 2009. Incorrect values were used for the following three industries: - Manufacture of beverages and tobacco products - Manufacture of textiles - Manufacture of wearing apparel These have now been replaced with the correct values. Please note that this does not affect any other values in the table. ONS apologises for any inconvenience that this may cause.
