Summary of request
Table 1 provides the number of suicides among medical practitioners in English counties for deaths registered between 2006 and 2015. Figures are for all persons aged 20 to 74 years.
The numbers detailed here cannot be used to ascertain the risk of suicide among doctors. Differences in numbers of deaths may merely reflect the underlying population structure as opposed to differences in risk.
Information on occupation is provided by the informant at the time of death registration, this is then coded using the Standard Occupation Classification (SOC).
