Thank you for you Freedom of Information request asking for the number of males and females aged 18-30 in Cardiff and their average income.

We publish mid-year population estimates of the population of the UK; the latest are for mid-2019. Worksheet MYE2-Males and MYE2-Females are the relevant ones where you will find data by single year of age from which you can calculate the age group you require. The figures for Cardiff are on row 379 of each worksheet.

Average income information data for 18-30 yeard old in Cardiff would need to be created as a bespoke output. Due to our estimates being produced from a sample of only around 5000 households, this type of breakdown is highly unlikely to produce a robust figure.

Please see the following publication: Income estimates for small areas, England and Wales. This provides income estimates for Middle Layer Super Output Areas in England and Wales. This data is not not broken down by age or sex.

Your request may be better placed with the Households Below Average Incomes Team at the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), as they hold larger sample sizes. They can be contacted directly at teamhbai@dwp.gov.uk or an FOI request can be submitted to the DWP via the following email address: freedom-of-information-request@dwp.gov.uk.

When accessing any of our files please read the 'notes, terms and conditions' contained within them as they will help your understanding of them.

Please do not hesitate to contact us directly on pop.info@ons.gov.uk if you require anything further.
