Summary of request
This download provides age-standardised mortality rates for deaths related to drug poisoning, by sex and deprivation. Figures are for deaths registered in England and Wales separately between 2001 and 2018 calendar years. Due to smaller numbers of deaths, data for Wales are provided in three year rolling periods and IMD quintiles.
Deprivation is a wider concept than poverty, and so the indices are constructed from a number of different types, or domains, of deprivation. IMD Quintiles range from 1 to 5, with 1 being the most deprived and 5 being the least deprived.
