1. The Office for National Statistics has finished running the National Survey for Wales

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) was contracted to run the National Survey for Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government and its partners from 2016 until 2023.

The running of the National Survey for Wales will be transferred to a new contractor and data collection will commence from March 2024 onwards.

The study gathers information on many topics, including:

  • health

  • schools

  • sports

  • arts and culture

The 2022 to 2023 National Survey for Wales closed on 31March 2023.

What to do if you were invited to take part

If you were selected to take part in the 2022 to 2023 National Survey for Wales, you no longer need to respond.

2. How will the information be used?

The data is used by the Welsh Government and its partners to assist in policy and decision-making. For more information on how Welsh Government uses the personal data collected by the National Survey for Wales please see the privacy information on the gov.wales website.

The ONS will delete all National Survey for Wales data in line with contractual obligations.
